Cerner Siemens AG Strategic Alliance
Cerner and Siemens AG announced a definitive agreement under which an alliance will be formed in conjunction with Cerner’s acquisition of Siemens’ health information technology unit, Siemens Health Services.
The alliance demonstrates Cerner’s and Siemens’ shared commitment to improving health care delivery and the health of communities. The companies will jointly invest in innovative projects aimed at more rapidly achieving the next generation of clinical computing, blurring the lines of diagnostics, therapeutics and clinical automation, to deliver precision medicine at higher quality and lower costs. The companies envision this will involve more tightly integrating device and imaging into the electronic record. Imaging and multimedia will become a more integrated part of the person/patient story; the functional lines will blur between textual notes and visual content. Our first focus will be in cardiology, imaging and device integration. The result of better, faster and more relevant information flow will improve outcomes across the globe, while lowering costs.
